I hate flying! If I had not been dependent on airplanes to escape my day to day reality, my foot would probably have never stepped on a plane.
I hate being closed in one place (especially one without Zara), hate the overcrowding, hate the food on airplanes, but mostly I hate the impact flights have on my skin, even after a 40-minute dry, depressing flight.
My daughter, who was born inexplicably with a wild resourcefulness, decided to make me change the way I feel about flights and took on the task of making my next flight with her during July to Barcelona unforgettably positive.
Here are 3 tips how to pass the flight with ease by Maya:
First – pack right!
The question of whether the flight will pass quickly or not according to Maya depends mainly on the items that you decide to take with you in your carry-on bag. She told me to make a list of everything I hate on the plane (which I already have :)) and match each of the problems to an item that would solve the situation or at least improve it. I know, I have a genius daughter 😊
So-
For my claustrophobic problem I went for a creative solution that requires a little imagination – a striped swim suit from Zohara that gives a summer atmosphere just by looking at it. A kind of a security blanket for grown-ups, who needs tangible accessories to imagine they are actually somewhere else, for example a magical island with a spectacular beach, and drinks that come with small colorful umbrellas :). Zohara, swimsuit, 250 ILS for a top, 220 ILS for bottom.
To ensure that my skin stays fresh and happy, I choose 3 products –
1. Elizabeth Arden Night Capsule. A mandatory product in every home! Each capsule contains an accurate amount of serum that will rejuvenates the skin and give it a soft and smooth texture, and most important keep it glowing. (The wonderful capsules can be obtained at the James Richardson Duty Free, and if you plan to fly before 11/6 you will find them in a special facility set up there to allow you to choose the right beauty dose for the flight). Elizabeth Arden, Skin Illuminating Brightening Night, $104 for 50 capsules.
2. Anti-aging sunscreen- Protects the skin from UV rays, free radicals and infrared rays. The cream nourishes the skin with moisture and keeps it safe and comfortable even in extreme conditions such as those found on flights. Beyond that, it is water resistant. Juvena, Sunsation, 99 ILS for 50 ml.
3. Mineral Nude Bronze- For a long time I have been looking for a bronze that will allow me to create a tanned glowing look (without the cancer part) that will look natural and not over done, and the new Dior mineral bronze does exactly that which make it perfect for quick touch ups a minute before landing but mostly, to make me forget the fact that I had spent the past four or more on an oppressive flight.
Dior, Breeze of Sunlight Bronze, 213 ILS.
The Zara problem was a little bit challenging, but here too Maya came to the rescue and pulled out a perfect straw hat from my closet that I bought from Zara and waited for the perfect opportunity to wear it. This is a mandatory item for an airplane because it has a tendency to upgrade every Look and it is perfect for a summer trip. Zara, Strew Hat, 129.90 ILS.
Tip # 2
Update your mobile playlist to suit your trip. We probably both went in this case, on a playlist made up entirely of Beyoncé's songs, because I forgot to mention that it was not another trip to Barcelona but a trip to see the Queen herself.
Tip # 3
Purchase a massive amount of sweets. True, this is entirely for Maya, but I went with her.
