Last week I vacationed in the magical Ibiza and for the first time in my life I understood how it feels to live a carefree and relaxed life. Everything was perfect and I felt like I was hovering over a pink and optimistic cloud, until I came across the magnifying mirror that was cunningly waiting for me in our bathroom and made two things clear to me- 1. I have to replace the sunscreen that I am using because against my will I got really tanned. 2. I do not know how to put on makeup and it's time to make an appointment with the professionals, because I can't keep looking a bit like a 4 year old child that's playing with her mommy's make up.
My sunscreen I switched immediately. As for the make-up I had to wait until returning to Israel to set a date with Likosh, the most amazing makeup artist in Mac Ramat Aviv store, that taught me magic :).
The mission – learn to put on make-up like a professional in five minute, using basic products.
1. Mischief Minx Palette (249 ILS)
I usually don't give any attention to my eyes (just because it seems really complicated), but Likosh was not impressed by my irrational fears and was determined to show me how easy it it. She pulled out an eye shadow palette called- Mischief Minx, that according to her is a must have product in every house (you'll understand why in a minute), combining silhouettes of various shades and blush, which come in different textures – Matt or shiny to allow different looks. The secret for a perfect outcome is to place a delicate shade on the eyelid, an intermediate color in the center of the eye, a light shade at the light points (located at the top of the eye and at the inner peak) and delineate at the outer peak of the eye. This is an easy technique to master and does not require symmetry or accuracy, or, in short, a lack of talent (familiar to me). The best brush for this stage is a blur brush because it has a fluffy texture and therefore easy to work with.
2. Waterweight Concealer (125 ILS) & Highlighter Enlumineur pen (148 ILS)
My main problem with makeup and the reason why you will never catch me without makeup is the imperfections I have under my eyes. So far I've used all sorts of correctors to blur them, that cover the black circles but created a new problem- uneven toning that made me look a bit like a sad clown.Likosh solved both of the problems with two surprising products that are going to break a myth about the concealer- To conceal the imperfections, she chose a dark concealer, which often contradicts the common belief that a bright concealer should be used under the eyes to illuminate the area. The dark Concealer completely blur the black circles with great professionalism. Note – it is very important to use strong lighting at this stage of the concealer to make sure you place it only on the dark areas.
To illuminate the area back she used an illumination pen. She placed a few dots under the eye and with the help of the brush, and like magic the eyes become bright and beautiful.
3. Extended Play Lash Mascara
Mascara has an important role in the success of the final result, because it empowers the appearance of the eyes. Likosh recommends this specific mascara because it is resistant to water and sweat that prevents smearing. Moreover, its special applicator pays attention to every eyelash and re-defines them. If you are concerned about the removal process, do not worry, MAC makeup remover based on silicone (Gently off eye and lip makeup remover) will dissolve all the residue easily and efficiently.4. Studio Fix Fluid Makeup
This is without a doubt one of my favorite makeups thanks to the way it can reaches a high level of coverage, without creating a heavy and unnatural look. Beyond that, it is based on powder, making it perfect for the sweaty summer days. However, it is less suitable for dry skin.5. Baiana Bronze
I Admit that at first I did not understand why I should use a Bronze. After all I am naturally tanned 🙂 but Likosh explained to me that as we created light in some areas we have to create shadows in others to emphasize them and create a shapely frame. You place the bronze in three places: 1. From the high part of the ear towards the nose, 2. On the hairline in the area of the forehead 3. Under the jawbone but with the residue of the material you make sure not to leave spots of color.6. Blush
From the plate I told you about in the beginning of this item. The secret to the correct use of blush is to place a bit of the product on the top of the cheek bones and then to brush upwards while maintaining an over exaggerated smile on your face :).7. Matte Lipstick- Lady Danger
Although I usually prefer my lips in red shades, this time I followed the advice of the makeup artist and went with an orange shade that is very summery and fun. If you want to ensure durability, it is recommended to use pencil for lips with the same shade not only for creating a frame but also for filling the lips, before placing the lipstick.
So I came home sure that what I thought was simple at the shop would be hard to do at home, but Likosh made it easy and on my first try I was satisfied, and even received compliments.
